Chair’s Statement

ANA NEWTON - 2019-2020 ACS NEW HAVEN CHAIR
Dear Members,
The outbreak of COVID-19 is causing changes in institutional policies, uncertainty and concern for many. This is an incredibly challenging time for the community, and we want you to know that the American Chemical Society New Haven Local Section (ACS NH) remains committed to supporting our members and students during this health emergency. Our primary focus is reducing the risk to our members and community, but at the same time we know that being able to communicate your research is vitally important. Therefore, the 2020 Research Student Symposium (SRS) will be virtual this year, i.e. it will be on-line. This was a difficult decision to make, but we believe the right one in the interests of public health, and in view of general guidelines put out by the American Chemical Society, the State of Connecticut, and Southern Connecticut University. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this might cause for our participants.
We are currently working on a digital platform to enable researchers to publish and share their findings for the 2020 Research Student Symposium on-line.
We are committed to publish submitted posters and presentations on-line and to live-stream oral presentations.
We recognize that planning will be difficult in this rapidly evolving situation, but we are committed to make this work with your help.
Please look for further communications as we implement a digital platform.
Once again, we appreciate your patience as we move forward.
Ana S. Newton
