November General Meeting - 2019
Join us for our November general meeting at Brazi’s on November 13 for a presentation by Dr.Katherine Schilling will give a talk about the chemistry of art restoration. A short networking session will commence at 6:45, followed by dinner PROMPTLY at 7 PM.
Dr. Katherine Schilling is an associate research scientist and lecturer based out of the department of Chemical & Environmental Engineering at Yale, and works within the Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage to investigate deterioration mechanisms and develop monitoring strategies for the preventative conservation of material culture. As the bridge between the School of Engineering & Applied Science and the Yale collections, she also creates coursework, research, and extracurricular opportunities for Yale undergraduate students to engage with the collections from a scientific and engineering perspective. She is teaching the courses The Materials Science of Art, and Being Human in STEM this year, and works with the Research Experience for Veteran Undergraduates program. She earned her doctorate in 2015 from the California Institute of Technology in chemical physics.
