Alyssa Marsico, Ph.D. is currently an Associate Professor in the Forensic Science Department at the University of New Haven. She has a Bachelor’s degree in both Forensic Science and Chemistry, and a minor in Mathematics, from the University of New Haven. Additionally, she earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she worked specifically on Analytical Chemistry and the use of gold nanoparticles in Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry. She has been teaching at the University of New Haven since January of 2017 and focuses primarily on Forensic Chemistry and the use of mass spectrometry in the Forensic Science field. She has several published papers in peer reviewed journals related to research utilizing various instrumentation in forensic applications.
